Pathways 4 Youth
Every night there are approximately 150 homeless youth sleeping outside, in cars or couch-hopping with friends in the St. Cloud area. Pathways 4 Youth provides youth experiencing homelessness with the opportunity to learn about and gain access to resources that can put them back on a path that will help them to grow as individuals and be contributing members of our community. Especially needed are fleece blankets or warm quilts.
Recovery Plus
Twin size quilts for children aged 12-18, who stay at Recovery Plus for 6-8 weeks. They can take these quilts with them, and often are the first quilt they have owned.
Pockets of Hope
Backpacks are given to children entering foster care, filled with comfort and personal items. Every backpack has a blanket of some sort. The age range is infant to teenager, with a special need for toddler quilts/blankets.
Stearns Co. Tummy Time
Quilts are used for “Tummy Time,” where parents and babies play together on the floor. These should be brightly colored and 48” x 48” or larger.
Eagle’s Nest
Twin-sized bed quilts (approx. 60” x 80”) for Veterans staying at Eagle’s Nest, a home for healing in Sauk Centre. They may take the quilts with them when they leave. Also needed are pillowcases that match the quilts, and items for their silent auction at Nest Fest in the fall.

The Central MN Chapter of Project Linus was started in April 2006 and functions 100% on donations from volunteers. It covers an area from the Iron Range to the Metro area and from east to west in the state. To date the chapter has given away over one thousand blankets. Project Linus strives to provide comfort blankets for children (birth to 18 years) who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need. The blankets provide love, a sense of security, and comfort. Donated blankets are constantly coming in and going out. We would like to set a goal of 50 – 100 blankets and we can meet this goal if each member makes 1 or more blankets.
• Items needed: single layer fleece blankets
• Goal: 50-100 (approximately 1 or more blankets per guild member)
• Complimentary pattern was distributed at the February meeting
• Other sizes welcome also – from 36” square to twin
• Pattern: copies can be obtained from Fawn Wright ([email protected] )

The Independence Center in Waite Park is a non-profit day habilitation site for disabled adults. There are approximately 50 adults (called consumers) who spend their days at this site. At least half of the consumers are in wheel chairs and have multiple, profound disabilities. We can meet this goal if each member makes 1-3 items from the list below.

Quiet Oaks Hospice House

Quiet Oaks Hospice House is a non-profit residential home for patients and families facing terminal illness. This was a Guild service project in 2008/2009. They are again in need of quilts and are ecstatic about the possibility of receiving more. The donation coordinator said the quilts provide great comfort to the families and are very much appreciated. They could use full-sized quilts (double bed size) and are in need of more lap quilts. As for colors, they would appreciate receiving quilts with “gender” colors—some with masculine color schemes for males and some with feminine color schemes for females. As for this project’s goal, they can use as many quilts as we can provide. Please consider making a quilt or combining resources with other guild members–maybe someone has a quilt top, another person has an extra batting or backing, and another person will do the quilting or binding. It could be a great way of meeting and working with other guild members.
• Goal: as many as we can provide (maybe 5-25)
